Measuring the moisture content of forest fuels and assessing their behaviour within the new climate realities

MCFIRE

THE PROJECT

Developing a fire risk prediction model that takes into account the moisture content behaviour of the species presents in the Portuguese forests with bearing in mind the new climatic realities.

THE PROCESS

Includes measurements of moisture content and meteorological parameters carried out in various locations of the inland national territory along with laboratory tests.

PARTNERS

The project partners are the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics, the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu and the University of Algarve.

REAL TIME RESULTS

WHAT CAN I FIND?

During the project, real-time reporting of the results obtained from the moisture content measurements at the various measurement sites.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Mainly to the entities that interfere with forest fire management in the areas subjected to the study.

WHERE ARE THE MEASUREMENT LOCATIONS?

During the project, moisture content measurements are carried out in several locations through the country, namely Lousã, Faro, Viana do Castelo and Viseu.
